The Meaning of Risen Life

So today I’m bringing “Breaking the Chains” to a close with the meaning of risen life. Whenever you accept Christ as your lord and savior a lot happens. You gain a lot and that’s where the meaning of risen life comes into play. With the exception of acquiring your new inward power, these things are goals for your spiritual walk!

1.First you acquire a new inward power

Romans 8:11 puts it like this, “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.”

The book of Romans chapters 6-8 all talk about the ‘new humanity.’ In this verse the spirit (if you don’t know, the holy spirit) is alive and actively working in everybody who believes in Christ. The Spirit guides us to live out God’s will, keep God’s laws and know that we really are God’s children. This spirit, once you receive Christ, will be active and you (when you are on the righteous path) will be able to feel God’s presence through the spirit.

2. As you continue your walk you should strive for Christlikeness

2 Corinthians 4:10-11 says, “We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be reveled in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.”

3. Stay Dedicated to a new master

2 Corinthians 5:15, “And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”

 4. Have heavenly ambition

Colossians 3:1, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.”

 5. Have heavenly affections (this ones a tough one!)

Colossians 3:2-3, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”

Now if you’re a new follower of Christ, I must warn you. You will have your doubts, people will question you and you will have to defend your faith. I also want you to know how easy it can be to find that you’ve strayed from God, but be aware, that he will never leave you. Also, when you find yourself in dark times, you will probably grow more in God than you will when life seems perfect. Keep your guard up, because the enemy is everywhere on earth. God bless, and don’t forget to do your bible study! My next post will be about the bible and bible study tips so until then, I recommend that you start with I John to be completely aware that you are forever saved.
